Wynberg Cave
Peter Swart, 25 September 1994
Alan Butcher, the SASA chairman, called at 13h50 to say someone had fallen into a cave on Table Mountain. We met Metro and MCSA at Constaintia Nek and drove up the mountain. A 70+ year old lady had fallen into the exit series of Wynberg Cave. She fallen about 8m. I checked that there was no easy way to get her out through the cave, so MCSA elected to hoist her out the same way she had fallen in. She got away with broken ribs.
Updates: I remember this as the cooo-eee rescue. An MCSA group had been on the mountain, hacking aliens I think. The patient had stood on an old pine log that bridged the cave entrance. The log broke and she fell in. She was discovered when someone heard her calling 'coo-eee' from inside the cave.
