Daniel's Den Cave

Peter Swart 21 January 1997

Dimensions: e16m,l8m,w5m,h6m

The flat area around Daniel's Den is a pavement of quartzite, mostly covered with a thin layer of soil, but exposed in parts. One of the slots in pavement is 5m deep, and forms Daniel's Den. The roof of the cave is solid for most of the length of the cave, but in certain parts, it consist of choke stones jammed into the top of the slot. The entrance to the cave has formed where some of the choke stones have fallen in. From the plan of the cave, the start of a network system of perpendicular joints can be seen.

The water which flows into the cave leaves through a narrow tunnel, filled with sand and boulders.
